April 2013: Jessica
Q. First things first, how and when did you become a Doctor Who fan?
A. About 3 years ago I had a wonderful friend named Steven. One day, I'd gone over to hang with him and he was watching it. I can't remember what episode exactly but I just remember how bizarrely intriguing it was. After a few more episodes, I had been converted. I immediately perceived the depth, the adventure, the joy, and the immeasurable sorrow within the show and the Doctor himself.
Q. The Doctor returned to our screens last month with his brand new companion! What have been your highlights so far?
A. It's been an interesting journey thus far. I adore Clara and her general look of curiosity, excitement yet mild uncertainty. I thoroughly enjoyed her bravery in The Rings of Akhaten. To save the Doctor the way she did was just beautiful. I enjoy how confused he is by her and her past seeing as he's seen her die twice, and in the first episode it really gave a peek at the hacking computer genius Oswin we aw in Asylum of the Daleks (not to mention her getting really excited and saying Os-WIN!). Her timeline is very convoluted and I honestly cannot wait to see it unfold.
Q. 23rd November 2013 will mark 50 glorious years of Doctor Who and it's been confirmed that David Tennant and Billie Piper will be returning as part of a special 3D anniversary adventure! Are you excited to see the Tenth Doctor and Rose again?
A. Oh absolutely. Everyone adores the Tenth Doctor and I am inconcievably excited to see them return. To put all those fantastic actors on the same screen will be well worth the wait. I'm very elated for this episode though.
Q. Who/what else would you like to see in the anniversary special?
A. A run in with Donna (despite not knowing the Doctor anymore) would be befitting. Of course everyone is astir that Barrowman won't be gracing us with his beautiful face, but I suppose that's okay, though it would be great to see. River Song, of course, should definitely make an appearance in that episode. That would be very interesting to see.
Q. Which Doctor Who character - past or present - would you say you relate to most?
A. Honestly, though I'm female, I'd say Rory, in the sense of logic, acceptance, his caring nature and how he grew through travels. Season 5 Rory versus season 7 Rory are so different it's almost like a new person. Plus, he's quirky and entertaining.
Q. What was the last episode of Doctor Who you watched?
A. The Rings of Akhaten because I worked last night and couldn't actually watch, so I just played it on mute because... spoilers! I plan to watch it once my little one is in bed, though.
Q. What's your favourite item of Doctor Who merchandise that you own?
A. My River Song Hello Sweetie tattoo style shirt I got from TeeFury.com takes the cake.
Q. What would you say is the best thing about being a Doctor Who fan?
A. That all the other fans you will ever meet will be generally nice, quirky and great people. I've never met a Whovian I didn't have something to talk about with.
Q. Anything else you'd like to add before you go?
A. Honestly, I feel like I've covered it all. I bid you adieu. Allons-y!
