Fan of the Month
December 2014: Amreen
Q. Firstly, how and when did you become a Doctor Who fan?
A. I became a Doctor Who fan when I was 14 when I started watching Series 3. I got so interested in it so I caught up with all of the other series and I've been hooked ever since.
Q. The Christmas season is upon us once again which means the Doctor will soon be lighting up our screens in his tenth annual seasonal special. This one is particularly exciting because it's Peter Capaldi's debut festive episode in the role as the Twelfth Doctor. From what we've seen of it so far, are you looking forward to Last Christmas?
A. Definitely! But I hope Clara doesn't leave at the end of it. I love her because she's so fierce but kind at the same time. Plus the Christmas special has Nick Frost in it, so there's no chance it won't be amazing!
Q. We'll have to wait and see what its title is referring to, but it certainly sounds ominous! What do you think "Last Christmas" could be referring to?
A. Possibly - but hopefully not - Clara's last Christmas with the Doctor. It will probably frighten me and even break my heart, too, so I won't be able to handle all of the feels!
Q. Santa Claus will be appearing in this year's Doctor Who Christmas Special. What Doctor Who related goodies are you hoping he'll leave under your tree?
A. A Doctor Who 2015 Annual, a TARDIS keyring, a Doctor Who mug, a bow tie, a Fez and maybe a police outfit!
Q. 2014 has been another brilliant year for Doctor Who with the arrival of Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor. What were your highlights from his debut series?
A. When he pretended to be the caretaker in Clara's school and his reaction when Danny said he was Clara's space dad! Also the Doctor's face when he finally found out who Missy is. It's been epic!
Q. Are there any other Doctor Who related memories you'll be taking with you from the past 12 months? Perhaps you've attended a convention or made a special friendship as a result of the show?
A. My friend met David Tennant and got me and my brother an autograph. My tutor also bought me four Doctor Who annuals as a Christmas present as well as the Doctor Who Series 2 Top Trumps!
Q. Filming on the Twelfth Doctor's second series is scheduled to begin next month. We already know that Michelle Gomez will be back as Missy but what else are you hoping to see in Series 9?
A. Possibly the return of Jenny, the Doctor's daughter. River Song returning and Craig coming back would be great, too.
Q. Describe (in a timey-wimey nutshell) what being part of the Doctor Who fandom means to you.
A. It means I am in a special Whovian family in which I am accepted for 'who' I am. We can all let go of our emotions together and spread our love throughout the world!
Q. Is there anything else you'd like to say before you go?
