July 2014: Stephen

Q. Firstly, how and when did you become a Doctor Who fan?

A. I've been a long time fan. I got to watch a bit when I was a kid, but at that time it was difficult for a small town kid to track down and watch a complete series. Since then I've caught up.

Q. 2014 will be an exciting year for Doctor Who with a full, interrupted series featuring Peter Capaldi as our brand new Doctor! What attributes do you think Peter will bring to his incarnation of the iconic role?
A. I think Mr. Capaldi will be an interesting Doctor, possibly a bit more like older incarnations like the First, where he is a bit more stern and serious than others we've seen recently. Though, I'm sure Clara will keep him in line and break through sometimes. As most Whovians are, I'm always concerned about a new Doctor, wanting him to be great and do the role justice, but we'll see. I'm just hoping for great things!

Q. And what do you think of his costume? Described as "sharp, smart and stylish", does our new Doctor dress to impress?
A. I would classify his style as very... Count Dracula. I'm just not sure about the cape, red inner lining, other little things. Without the cape I think he will dress in a somewhat similar fashion to Tennant, which I appreciate in a Doctor.

Q. Samuel Anderson will be joining Series 8 as a new recurring character called Danny Pink. Are you looking forward to welcoming a new addition to the TARDIS or do you think three's a crowd?
A. Three is most definitely a crowd in the TARDIS, however in the past that's always proved interesting, funny and dramatic. Plus, it's a great way to mix things up and push side plots, so I'm all for it!

Q. 2013 was a fantastic year for Doctor Who as fans around the world celebrated half a century of adventures in space and time. What special memories will you cherish from the show's momemtous 50th anniversary year?
A. Oh wow, so much to cherish... Well I loved seeing the Tenth Doctor back, but I think I can sum up my favorite aspect with one monumental phrase... "Gallifrey Falls No More".

Q. If you could own one prop from the series, what would it be and why?
A. Blimey. Would the entire main Tenth Doctor TARDIS Interior for my living room qualify as one prop? If not, the Tenth Doctor sonic screwdriver.

Q. Would you say that there is anything in your life that has been directly affected by Doctor Who?
A. Absolutely. My free time! Ha. But seriously, the Doctor has inspired me to open my eyes and see how much people need help. If we all tried to help more like the Doctor, what kind of world would it be? Well, one the Doctor wouldn't have to save, I suppose.

Q. What would you say is the BEST thing about being a Doctor Who fan? It's a toughie, we know!
A. When something happens in a new episode that throws back to something old and Whovian and it makes you all giddy, like when K-9 is fixed by the Tenth Doctor.

Q. Anything else you'd like to say before you go? Any passing remarks? We've heard them all...
A. Second star to the right and straight on until morning? Oops, wrong science fiction hero of mine! How about... Thank you for doing all that you do for the fans. As Whovians we all deal badly with Doctor Who withdraws and your site helps so much, so thank you from the bottom of my one and only heart. Any Alonzo's on staff?
