January 2015: Sarah
Q. Happy Who Year! So how and when did you become a fan of Doctor Who?
A. I started off watching the New Series from Doomsday onwards (I unfortunately missed the Ninth Doctor's era so I had to catch up through the DVDs). I became facinated with the Classic Series about two years before the 50th AnniversarysSpecial was filmed and the rumours of the Classic Doctors starring in the special.
Q. 2014 ended in style with the arrival of Peter Capaldi's first Christmas Special. What did you think of Last Christmas and how does it rank alongside the Doctor's previous festive adventures?
A. I loved Last Christmas and it is one of my favourite Christmas episodes. I found the whole dream inside a dream plot a bit confusing but other than that it was simply magical.
Q. Speaking of the festive season (we're not ready to let it go just yet!), did you find any Doctor Who related presents or treats underneath your tree on Christmas morning?
A. I got a Remote Control K-9 Mark II and a woolly TARDIS rug that my dad made me. I love both of my presents, although it took me a while to masters the directional controls for K-9 to make him go forwards instead of in circles.
Q. 2014 in general was yet another fantastic year to be a Whovian. What were your highlights of Series 8 and are there any other more personal Doctor Who memories that you'll be taking away with you from last year?
A. The Caretaker was my favourite episode of Series 8 as it was hilarious watching the Doctor's antics as Clara tried and failed to work normally with the Doctor around. I met Nicola Bryant (Peri Brown) and a Dalek at my first ViewCon.
Q. Filming for the new series began in Cardiff this month! The Twelfth Doctor will return to our screens later this year in The Magician's Apprentice and Clara Oswald will also be back for more. What do you think the title is referring to and are you glad that the impossible girl is sticking around for Series 9?
A. I think that the title refers to Clara as I believe that the episode is set in Medieval times so the Doctor and any aliens he might be facing would be considered magic. Therefore Clara would be considered to be the Doctor's apprentice. I am quite happy with Clara's return and I hope she is a lot less bossy and more pleasant this series.
Q. Clara won't be the only familiar face returning for the next series as Michelle Gomez has confirmed that Missy will also be back with a vengeance in 2015. Are you excited to see her again? Say something nice...
A. I am quite pleased with Missy's return as I believe that she is well played by Michelle Gomez and I believe that she brings a whole new perspective to the show.
Q. If all of that wasn't enough to get excited about, 2015 will also mark the 10th anniversary of the revived series - or 'NuWho', as it has come to be known - as the Doctor returned to our screens on 26th March 2015. How do you think the landmark should be commemorated?
A. An anniversary special episode with all the Doctors that have appeared on the New Series and a special convention for all fan to celebrate everything that the New Series has brought to the Whoniverse.
Q. Have you set yourself any Doctor Who related New Year resolutions for 2015?
A. To find a new adventures throughout this year and simply be fantastic!
Q. Finally, is there anything else you'd like to say before you go?
A. Fantastic, Allons-y, Geronimo, Gallifrey Falls No More!
