Series 3 Episode 7
In a distant galaxy, a spaceship hurtles out of control towards a boiling sun with the Doctor and Martha trapped on board. They've only got 42 minutes to uncover the saboteurs, but, with a mysterious force starting to possess the ship's crew, the Doctor is running out of time.
  • The transmission of this episode was delayed by one week because of BBC One's coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest. During an interview with Parkinson, David Tennant joked that Doctor Who had been taken off for a week because the Eurovision couldn't cope with the fierce competition.
  • After its original broadcast, an extended 'Coming Up' trailer was released as a special treat for fans for having the series run interrupted. The preview included brief clips of Captain Jack's return, the mysterious Mr Saxon, John Smith and Martha's flat exploding.
  • In the commentary for this episode, executive producer Russell T Davies revealed that he has a personal preference that the Doctor should always wear his blue suit when travelling in the future, and his brown suit whenever he's in the past.
  • This episode is well-known for the fact it takes place in 'real-time' (when the crew have 22 minutes before they fall into the sun, the audience have rougly the same amount of time left of the episode).
