  • This story marks the last series finale to be written by Russell T Davies, and as a result ties up all the lose ends and storylines from Series 1-4.
  • This episode brings together characters from Doctor Who and its two spin-offs, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures.
  • The Stolen Earth also marks the anticipated return of Davros, the creator of the Daleks, last seen in 1988's 'Remembrance of the Daleks'. His return to the series was heavily speculated for months before it was leaked out just before the transmission of this episode.
  • The title of this episode wasn't revealed until the week before its transmission as Russell T Davies felt it gave too much away.
  • In the first draft of the script, the Shadow Proclomation was to be crowded with aliens and monsters that the Doctor and his companions have encountered over the past four years, including the Slitheen, Krillitane, Bane, Gelth, Isolus, the Graske, the Jixx of Balhoon (Moxx of Balhoon's brother), the Sisters of the Wicker Place Mat and more.
