Arthur Darvill, born in Birmingham in 17th June 1982, portrays Amy Pond's bumbling other half, Rory Williams, who was introduced in the fifth series of Doctor Who.
After attending Worcestershire's Bromsgrove School for eight years, Darvill briefly presented the continuity links between programmes on CITV, before deciding to concentrate on his acting passion, developing his skills at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
He graduated from the school in 2006, and it wasn't long before he managed to land his first professional role, playing the character of Harrison in a production of Terre Haute. A year later, in 2007, he took to the stage again, this time as Rob in Stacy. He then starred in Swimming with Sharks alongside, coincidentally, his future Doctor Who co-star, Matt Smith, and went on to make his small screen debut in an ITV drama called He Kills Coppers.
He has also appeared as Edward "Tip" Dorrit in 7 episodes of the BBC series, Little Dorrit.
His film credits include Pelican Blood, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll (both in 2009), and Robin Hood (2010).
