Jenna-Louise Coleman is best known for her roles in Emmerdale and Waterloo Road, although that will all change when she steps aboard the new-look TARDIS!
Born in Blackpool on 27th April 1986, Jenna grew up attending Arnold School and landed her debut telvision role in Emmerdale during her time auditioning for drama schools. Between 2005 and 2009, her portrayal of Jasmine Thomas in the long-running ITV soap proved popular with viewers. Her peformance would go on to win her a string of nominations in various TV and soap awards, including Best Actress and Most Popular Newcomer.
She is also recognised for playing troublesome teen Lindsay James in Waterloo Road, and in 2012 she appeared as Annie Desmond in ITV1's 4-part drama, Titanic, which commemorated the 100th anniversary of the doomed liner.
Her most high profile role to date was confirmed in March 2012, when she was announced as the brand new companion in Doctor Who at a special press event. At the time, she commented: "I can't wait to get cracking. Working alongside Matt is going to be enormous fun, and a huge adventure."
Ahead of her previously announced debut in the 2012 Doctor Who Christmas Special, Jenna made a surprise appearance, as Oswin Oswald, in the Series 7 premiere, Asylum of the Daleks, and it remains to be seen how this character will tie in with her other alter ego, the "mysterious" Clara...
