John Barrowman

John Barrowman won the lead in several musical productions during his time at high school, but it wasn't until 1989 he landed his first professional role, which was in a London West End production of Anything Goes.

Since then, he has starred in countless other productions, and more recently, his musical abilities have been showcased in pantomines, after securing the lead role in Aladdin over the Christmas 2007 period. He has also co-presented the BBC series The Sound of Musicals, and appeared in Mel Brooks' film The Producers.

His television credits include the short-lived soap operas Titans and Central Park West, but he's best known for his portrayal of Captain Jack Harkness in Doctor Who and its spin-off, Torchwood.

His autobiography, Anything Goes, which he co-wrote with his sister, Carole, was published in January 2008, and its sequel, I Am What I Am, was published in Autumn 2009.

In 2009 and 2010, he presented his own Saturday night show, Tonight's the Night, which aimed to make the dreams of ordinary people come true. Recently he has also played Patrick Logan in the hit US drama, Desperate Housewives.
